Green the new black…

I was interested to see in today’s PR Week the launch of Text 100’s new global Clean technology practice which will be:

“dedicated to helping organizations promote technologies and services in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable power.”

 It has taken a bit of time but the eco-debate has now well and truly turned towards the technology sector. James Murray over at IT Week is spearheading its green computing campaign and many technology companies are starting to think about how they can tell ‘green stories’ – on this occasion this seems to be far more than just about CSR excersise. Just like consumers at home are becoming positive purchasers boycotting products that are perhaps deemed to not be environmentally friendly. I can see IT purchasers beginning to take a similar line. Obviously it won’t happen over night but the momentum is there and in a few years time will the ‘green’ box be something a product/service will need to tick before it can be sold. I think so.
